Starfish Wasting Syndrome has killed tens of thousands of sea stars on the Pacific coast -- and no one knows why. After showing symptoms, the star fish will twist into knots, then the individual arms will crawl away until the body tears apart.
So remember: even if it does sound like a body horror episode of a certain underwater cartoon show, think of the starfish.
